Hot Steamy Love Poetry - Women Writers

Sex, Love and Poems Back In The Day!

It seems like every generation thinks they discovered good sex!  You know, steamy, make your toes curl, your eyebrows itch, hot, hot love. The newest generation may think they have made up new moves & loving hasn't been loving until they came along and got it on.

Sorry.  I hate to inform you, but the steam has been hissing long before you were born. Check out these early poets.  They found their passion and made it happen!

Sappho approx 615 B.C - 550 B.C.

You came and I was
longing for you.

You cooled a heart that
burned with desire.

Veronica Franco Steamy Love Poem

So sweet and delicious do
I become, when I am in bed
with a man who, I sense,
loves and enjoys me, that the
pleasure I bring excels all
delight, so the knot of love,
however tight it seemed before,
is tied tighter still.

-Veronica Franco

Emily Dickinson 1830 - 1886

Wild Nights by Emily Dickinson

Wild Nights - Wild Nights!
Were I with thee
Wild Nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile - the Winds -
To a Heart in port -
Done with the Compass -
Done with the Chart!

Rowing in Eden -
Ah, the Sea!
Might I but moor -
Tonight - With Thee!

Sara Teasdale 1884 - 1933

Sara Teasdale Hot Love Poem Kiss

 Joy by Sara Teasdale

I am wild, I will sing to the trees,
I will sing to the stars in the sky,
I love, I am loved, he is mine,
Now at last I can die!

I am sandaled with wind and with flame,
I have heart-fire and singing to give,
I can tread on the grass or the stars,
Now at last I can live!

When people say it's important to learn from our history, I am pretty sure they are talking about these passionate-poetresses.  So go out there and throw it down so good, that you have a burning desire to write about it.  May future generations learn from you!

  1. Wow even Emily Dickinson even got in on the action! Poetry I think must have been the first kind of "word porn".

  21. There is some really hot and steamy stuff in the poetry. As with prose, I like it best when it leaves space for your own imagination.

Isn't it funny how every generation thinks they discovered everything? My twenty somethings think their generation discovered it all ... I just smile :)
